Will The Steelers Make The Playoffs?

Will the Steelers make the playoffs this year? Maybe. A lot has to happen though, but it can be done.

Please God, just let them get in!

Please God, just let them get in!

Here’s a quick rundown of what needs to shape up on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers at 8-7:

  • Would clinch the No. 5 seed with win and New York loss and Baltimore loss and Houston loss.
  • Would clinch No. 6 seed with win and either 1) New York loss and Baltimore loss and Denver loss and Houston win, or 2) Houston loss and either New York loss or Baltimore loss.
  • Eliminated with loss or 1) New York and Baltimore wins, or 2) Houston win and New York, Baltimore or Denver win.

Here’s some news about Troy Polamalu that may or may not be good:

Maybe the stars are aligning over Pittsburgh. The Steelers still have a chance to make the playoffs, and star safety Troy Polamalu appears to be making some progress in his return from a knee injury. Read the rest of the story here.

A “Thank You” Letter To All Drunken A-holes At Games!

Dear Drunken A-holes,

I just wanted to say “thanks”! I have been going to Steeler games, as well as Penguin, and Pirates games along side you for the past 25 years or so and I’ve rarely spoken to you. I know you must think I’m a “sissy” for not drinking or drinking in moderation and NOT doing hardcore things like drinking until I can’t walk straight or doing beer bongs in the parking lot. Oh well…maybe you will like me better after this “thank you” letter.

Thank You…for taking your shirt off in 20 degree weather! No seriously…the rest of us can’t get enough of your man boobs and beer bellies! I also am equally thankful for you avoiding any kind of physical exercise, I would hate for you to actually take time away from your beer drinking!

Thank You…for screaming obscenities around any of the children or elderly people that come to the games…that is classic! I mean what are kids doing at the games anyways? If they’re not old enough to drink, they should just stay home! A sporting event is no place for kids or old people. What’s an elderly person going to do in a fist fight with opposing fans anyways, hit them with their cane? Read the rest of this entry »

Expect Changes, Even If Steelers Make The Playoffs

Whether the Pittsburgh Steelers make the playoffs or not, can we expect some changes in 2010? Oh hell, I hope so! I just can’t see letting everything go on as it has this year.

Can we keep the special teams as they are?

No. How about finding a kicker that can kick it further then the oppositions twenty yard line? One touchback all year, are you serious? This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to special teams.

Can we win with this secondary?

That depends on whether Troy Polamalu is in the lineup or not. It’s a shame that one guy can have so much of an impact on the defense, but this year has proven that he does. We need someone with the ability to make a play without Troy in the lineup. We have a lot of guys that can make plays when Troy’s in there, but what about when he’s not?

Play calling? Do I even need to ask?

Onside kick. I think I said enough. Even Coach Tomlin’s eight year old son doesn’t understand it.

Here’s what Len Pasquarelli of ESPN had to say about this.

How To Shit In The Woods: It’s A Skill Like Anything Else!

shit in the woodsDo we really need a book that teaches us how to shit in the woods? Well apparently, I have too much time on my hands because I found a book that teaches us the proper way to do it! Have you ever read something and then just thought, WTF?

While checking this out, I thought, “what other crazy book titles are out there?” So I took a look and found more. I listed them below, check them out. Too bad I didn’t find them earlier, they would of made a great gag gift. I feel sorry for the struggling authors trying to get a book deal that see the crap that is already out there. (No pun intended!)

Top 6 What The F book titles:

Happy Holidays To Everyone. . . Uh-Oh, Did I Offend You?

A sheared tree's fuller, more conical shape.

I wish everyone a happy holiday season and a prosperous new year! Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, let this be a time of happiness for you and your family. This can be a time that we all forget our differences and opinions and just be happy that we’re all alive.

I met someone the other day and told them Merry Christmas and they were offended and went out of there way to let me know about it. They did not celebrate Christmas and for some reason did not like me wishing them well. Listen people, enough of the politically correct bullshit. I don’t care what your beliefs are, if you get offended by someone wishing you a Merry Christmas, you need to get over yourself. Read the rest of this entry »

Steelers:Change Comes At A Feverish Pace!

Don’t turn off your computer or forget to read your paper for a day or you will be lost in the whirlwind that is our Pittsburgh Steelers. When I heard that the Steelers signed Joey Galloway, my first thought was can he play cornerback or safety? Why in the world do we need another wide receiver? That was before learning more about Hines Ward and Mike Wallace’s injuries, and Limas Sweeds situation. I guess after all that, it’s not as bad as I originally thought. Read the rest of this entry »

Sidney Crosby: Best Player On The Ice?

Sidney Crosby is arguably the best player on the ice on any given night. Of course when you’re great, you are going to have some haters out there that pounce on any weakness that you have. The most common knocks against Sid are that he’s not physical enough, he passes too much and is not a true goal scorer. . .  more of a play maker, and he isn’t good at faceoffs. Well, I think he must of been listening, because he has improved this year on at least two of the three knocks. Read the rest of this entry »

Steelers New Tactic: Confusion!

Steelers have a new tactic. Confuse the opposition. What do I mean? Read on and I will explain, but first let’s talk about the good stuff.

After watching the Steelers win last night and Big Ben throw an unbelievable pass to Mike Wallace, it just feels like everything is right in the world again. Now of course I know that there are a million things wrong in the world, that’s why I don’t watch the news. But, in our little corner of the world, in Steeler nation. . . it just feels right again. Good job Steelers and good job Ben. Read the rest of this entry »

Steelers Win. . . In Spite Of Play Calling

Steelers Win! Finally the Steelers play like a team that wants to win. As much as I want to bitch and moan about the play calling, I am going to let it go for tonight. Let’s just be happy with the fact that we won. There will be plenty of time to complain about this unbelievable play calling.

We have to give props to Big Ben. What a game! Mike Wallace is looking like he is the real deal and he’s not only fast, he can actually catch the ball! Limas Sweed might want to watch the tape of him and take some notes. Anyway, good job Steelers, we ain’t out of it yet.

Ok, as much as I don’t want to talk about the play calling and want to be on the positive side. . . Onside kick?!!! Are you serious? Come on Coach, I haven’t seen the defense stop anyone in the last five weeks either, but an onside kick? Wow.

It’s A Sad Day In Steeler Nation!

Well, I was checking out some other blogs and just getting the pulse on what others are thinking about our chances to win this game today against the Green Bay Packers. It’s a sad day in Steeler nation when most are picking us to lose at home! I can’t say that I blame them, although I am still holding out hope. At least in the past we have played better against good teams. Hopefully we can come out and show the rest of the NFL that we haven’t given up just yet. At least some are still predicting a win for us. Go Steelers!

Here’s a few sites that have different predictions for our beloved Steelers:

http://www.steelerslocker.com

This is not the kind of team the Steelers want to play right now as the Packers have won five games in a row while the Steelers have lost five games in a row including games to the Browns, Chiefs and Raiders.  The Steelers will have to protect Ben Roethlisberger to have any chance of winning this game.
