Mario Lemieux To Buy The Pirates?

Well I’m sure by now you have heard that Mario Lemieux is interested in buying the Pittsburgh Pirates. At least that’s the rumor that’s going around. It doesn’t surprise me because Mario always seems to want to do what’s in the best interest of the city of Pittsburgh. As a business man, he of course wishes to make some money out of it also. He is entitled to make as much as he can from any business venture that he goes in to. The difference between him and the current Pirates owner, Bob Nutting, is that Mario will find a way to make the Pirates competitive and also make money.

Nutting on the other hand, can’t seem to do either. He sure hasn’t made them competitive and if you listen to him, he isn’t making any money. It has been said that the Pirates payroll in 2010 will be around 35 million, which is low even for a small market team. It would seem that the current ownership figures that if they are going to lose 100 games each year, why not make some money from it. If you’re losing 100 games with mediocre players, why not lose 100 with total scrubs? To me it seems that they are just giving up and hoping for a miracle. Read the rest of this entry »

Pirates Looking To Church And Jesus For Help in 2010!

WWJD

After seventeen straight losing seasons in a row, the Pittsburgh Pirates are looking to Church and Jesus for help next year! I can’t say as I blame them, most of the fans in Pittsburgh have been praying for a winning season for years. It’s about time that Pirates ownership finally tries something new.

Before you get too excited and pull your WWJD bracelets out of the drawer, you need to know that it’s not the real Jesus, Its Jesus Brito. Yeah, he’s a minor league infielder from the Cleveland organization. As with anything the Pirates do, they can’t even get the real good Jesus! As far as Saviors go, he’s the only Jesus that the Pirates are willing to sign. If you want to know what would Jesus do? (WWJD) He would most likely play for the Yankees or Red Sox! Even the real Jesus knows he can’t save a sinking ship.

On a brighter note, the Pirates also have a Church in the organization now. This should make some people feel good going to a game on Sunday this year. Seeing Jesus and Church together on Sunday at the ballpark may be as close to worshiping as some fans will get. Ryan Church is an outfielder that was with Atlanta last year. He has had injury problems through the years, but when healthy, is a pretty good ball player. Maybe if he gets injured again this year, he could look to Jesus for healing.

While searching for information on baseball players names, I came up with a few that sound like they should be in a 70’s porno movie. These guys were all real major league baseball players and these are their real names!

Johnny Dickshot: played for the Pirates from 1936-1938

Rusty Kuntz: won a world series with Detroit in 1984

Charlie Fuchs: pitcher for the Detroit Tigers in 1942

Well that’s all for now, folks. Don’t know how I did it, but somehow I referenced Jesus, the church, and old porno movies all in the same post!

Pirates Ownership Trying To Get Teams Handicapped.

Pittsburgh Pirates
Image via Wikipedia

During a brainstorming session with Pirates executives, a plan was formed to make the Pirates more competitive. They are trying to get Major League Baseball to handicap each team, similar to golf, to make baseball more fair for all. Bob Nutting was quoted as saying, “As bad as we are we should get spotted 25 or 30 wins at the beginning of each season. I just don’t think that it’s fair that some of the other owners aren’t afraid to spend money just so they can win. Also the small market teams that are winning just have a lot smarter people in their front office. Why should I have to suffer for that?”

Asked if he thinks that the Pirates would have a winning record if this new plan goes in to effect, he responded with “Are you kidding me, have you ever watched us play? It’s gonna take a lot more than this for us to start winning games, I guess miracles do happen though! It may get these fans off of my back for a while though! It’s a shame, back in the good ole days, ownership was able to tell them anything and they would fall for it! Now, they actually want a solid plan and want me to spend money. I’ll tell you, it’s crazy! I can see that they’re crying on all of the radio talk shows, but all I hear is blah, blah, blah, blah!”

Pirates Players Required To Supply There Own Balls

In an effort to save money and trim expenses for 2010, Pirates ownership has announced that the players will each be required to bring two balls to the games. Once these balls are all used up, the fans will have to start contributing or the game will be forfeited. On top of that, pitchers will be docked $1,000 for every homerun that they give up and any foul balls will cost the batters $500 for the first offense, and $250 for every one after that. Pirates majority owner, Bob Nutting was quoted as saying, “Maybe this will stop all of the useless waste that has been costing me thousands of dollars each year.” Apparently the economy is starting to effect everyone, even the deep pocketed, generous Pirate Ownership. Pirates Ownership: Unaware The Pirates Are Part Of MLB

Pittsburgh, PA- During a rare question and answer session with Pittsburgh Pirate majority owner Bob Nutting, he was surprised to find out that the Pirates are part of major league baseball. He was quoted as saying “I guess it kind of makes sense since we are forced to play against major league teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers, I just wish somebody would of told us this before we got rid of our better players. Will The Steelers Make The Playoffs?

Will the Steelers make the playoffs this year? Maybe. A lot has to happen though, but it can be done.

Please God, just let them get in!

Please God, just let them get in!

Here’s a quick rundown of what needs to shape up on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers at 8-7:

  • Would clinch the No. 5 seed with win and New York loss and Baltimore loss and Houston loss.
  • Would clinch No. 6 seed with win and either 1) New York loss and Baltimore loss and Denver loss and Houston win, or 2) Houston loss and either New York loss or Baltimore loss.
  • Eliminated with loss or 1) New York and Baltimore wins, or 2) Houston win and New York, Baltimore or Denver win.

Here’s some news about Troy Polamalu that may or may not be good:

Maybe the stars are aligning over Pittsburgh. The Steelers still have a chance to make the playoffs, and star safety Troy Polamalu appears to be making some progress in his return from a knee injury. Read the rest of the story here.

A “Thank You” Letter To All Drunken A-holes At Games!

Dear Drunken A-holes,

I just wanted to say “thanks”! I have been going to Steeler games, as well as Penguin, and Pirates games along side you for the past 25 years or so and I’ve rarely spoken to you. I know you must think I’m a “sissy” for not drinking or drinking in moderation and NOT doing hardcore things like drinking until I can’t walk straight or doing beer bongs in the parking lot. Oh well…maybe you will like me better after this “thank you” letter.

Thank You…for taking your shirt off in 20 degree weather! No seriously…the rest of us can’t get enough of your man boobs and beer bellies! I also am equally thankful for you avoiding any kind of physical exercise, I would hate for you to actually take time away from your beer drinking!

Thank You…for screaming obscenities around any of the children or elderly people that come to the games…that is classic! I mean what are kids doing at the games anyways? If they’re not old enough to drink, they should just stay home! A sporting event is no place for kids or old people. What’s an elderly person going to do in a fist fight with opposing fans anyways, hit them with their cane? Read the rest of this entry »

Expect Changes, Even If Steelers Make The Playoffs

Whether the Pittsburgh Steelers make the playoffs or not, can we expect some changes in 2010? Oh hell, I hope so! I just can’t see letting everything go on as it has this year.

Can we keep the special teams as they are?

No. How about finding a kicker that can kick it further then the oppositions twenty yard line? One touchback all year, are you serious? This is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to special teams.

Can we win with this secondary?

That depends on whether Troy Polamalu is in the lineup or not. It’s a shame that one guy can have so much of an impact on the defense, but this year has proven that he does. We need someone with the ability to make a play without Troy in the lineup. We have a lot of guys that can make plays when Troy’s in there, but what about when he’s not?

Play calling? Do I even need to ask?

Onside kick. I think I said enough. Even Coach Tomlin’s eight year old son doesn’t understand it.

Here’s what Len Pasquarelli of ESPN had to say about this.

Steelers:Change Comes At A Feverish Pace!

Don’t turn off your computer or forget to read your paper for a day or you will be lost in the whirlwind that is our Pittsburgh Steelers. When I heard that the Steelers signed Joey Galloway, my first thought was can he play cornerback or safety? Why in the world do we need another wide receiver? That was before learning more about Hines Ward and Mike Wallace’s injuries, and Limas Sweeds situation. I guess after all that, it’s not as bad as I originally thought. Read the rest of this entry »

Steelers New Tactic: Confusion!

Steely McBeam signing autographs for fans at S...

Steelers have a new tactic. Confuse the opposition. What do I mean? Read on and I will explain, but first let’s talk about the good stuff.

After watching the Steelers win last night and Big Ben throw an unbelievable pass to Mike Wallace, it just feels like everything is right in the world again. Now of course I know that there are a million things wrong in the world, that’s why I don’t watch the news. But, in our little corner of the world, in Steeler nation. . . it just feels right again. Good job Steelers and good job Ben. Read the rest of this entry »
