Meet My Soulmate
![]()
To really know what makes me the person that I am today, you need to meet my soulmate. Her name is Tammy. She has been and always will be my one true thing. She was my high school sweetheart and stole my heart way back in 1984, when I was only 15. We dated through high school, although we went to different high schools, and soon married after we both graduated.
I’d like to tell you that it was all marital bliss ever since. It wasn’t. In fact it wasn’t even close. We had our first son and stayed married for around two and a half years. On Christmas Eve in 1989, she decided that she wanted out and figured that this would be a good time to fill me in on this latest development. It wasn’t a good time, although there isn’t a good time to find out that your wife is leaving you and taking your son with her.
I had a pretty rough go of it over the next five years or so. I dated other girls and even got pretty serious with a few of them. It never went very far though. It’s hard to be in a serious relationship with someone when you really want someone else. As I said, Tammy is my one true thing. There was never a chance that it would work with any other girl. I didn’t know that then, but after sabotaging another relationship with a great girl, I knew that something was going on in my head. No matter how hard I wanted to deny it, or how much I told my girlfriends that I didn’t still love Tammy, I did.
I did love her, and I needed to see what she thought of me after all of these years. To make a long story short, she also realized that we were meant to be together. We got married again 14 years ago and have two more sons, including the little ball painter I talked about in another post! You might want to check that out, it’s pretty funny! Of course, our life together is not perfect, but it’s ours. No matter what, we have each other and we also respect each other.
I’m not going to make this post ten pages long, so I will wrap it up now. I will continue to tell the story of how I met her and how it all went down in future posts. Stay tuned. I think it’s one of the greatest love stories you will ever read about! I know I may sound like a wuss to some of the guys reading this. Sorry, I’m just telling it like it is.
Together we went through everything that a couple could go through: married, kid, divorced, married again, more kids. It’s been a wild 25 years and I’m looking forward to hopefully many, many, more. I’ll keep you posted.
